Under the “Athma” National Programme, a major cleaning campaign was successfully launched today in Puttalam in coordination with the Clean Sri Lanka programme.
The event was attended by a Member of Parliament, the Mayor of Puttalam, members of the Puttalam Municipal Council, Divisional Secretariat officials, representatives of community empowerment groups and members of the public.
The programme was launched to improve the cleanliness of the city and protect the environment. It also serves as an important initiative to strengthen community unity and public responsibility.
Arrangements have also been made to continue the cleaning programme on a regular basis.
