China–Sri Lanka Collaboration for the Rehabilitation of Bridges and Drainage Systems in Puttalam District

With the objective of rehabilitating bridges and drainage systems in the Puttalam District affected by the recent disaster, Chinese engineers and officials visited the Puttalam District Secretariat.

During the visit, District Engineers provided a detailed briefing on the damages incurred and the urgent rehabilitation requirements across the district. The Technical Division of the Puttalam Municipal Council was specially invited to the discussion, where the city’s actual infrastructure needs were clearly emphasized.

Proposals aimed at protecting Puttalam town from future flood disasters were also presented, with particular focus on the construction and improvement of drainage systems and bridges. Representing the Mayor of Puttalam, the Mayor’s Special Secretary, along with technical officers of the Municipal Council, participated in the discussion and shared valuable insights.

This initiative reflects a coordinated effort towards strengthening infrastructure resilience and supporting sustainable development in the Puttalam District.
